Celebrating Fiji colors is all the vibe Vijaylachmi Prasad needed as her family battles through the pandemic challenges.

She plans to prepare BBQ and celebrate Fiji day with her family in Luvuluvu Police staff quarters in Nausori with her husband, daughter and mother-in-law.

“We plan to make BBQ, have cake and just spend the day with the rest of the family. During this pandemic, there has been a lot of suffering and challenges faced so Fiji Day is just to remind us as a family that things will get better with time,” she said.

She teaches English at Vunimono High School for year 9 to 11.

“It is time to fly the Fiji flag and be proud to be a Fijian. We have the three colors that unite the Fiji flag and that is the blue, white and red colors. Fiji is a multicultural country that celebrates all races and religions,” said Mrs Prasad.

The 45 year – old Vijaylachmi Prasad said as Fijians across the country marked Fiji Day, student’s education is important.

“I have been preparing the worksheets to deliver o my students, updating them on anything that they needed to continue their studies.

She said the pandemic has really taught her the value of family and spending more time with them.

“Fiji Day is a special day for all of us because it reminds us of all the hardships that we came across over the years as a family. I know a lot of families have suffered during this pandemic so just observing Fiji Day may help remind ourselves how important family is to us,” said Mrs Prasad.

Mrs Prasad wishes all families as blessed Fiji Day.
