Plant Engineers in Demand
It has been around six months since our children have been studying from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With more people and children getting vaccinated now, the Ministry of Education is planning to gradually reopen schools soon.
The Accident Compensation Commission, Fiji would like to provide the following tips to help transition children back to school:
■Get back to a regular sleep schedule. Try to follow a consistent bedtime routine and avoid electronics in the bedroom.
■Preve■t separation anxiety. Children may feel nervous about going back to school and being away from family members. Have conversations about school and develop tools for your child to feel connected to home, such as notes in their lunchbox.
■Adheri■g to COVID-19 protocols. Encourage children to follow basic COVID-19 protocols such as washing hands regularly and covering their mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing at home. This will help them to continue these healthy habits once they return to school.
Keep a lookout for announcements from the Ministry of Education.
As Fiji continues to develop its infastructure, there is a steady demand for plant engineers.
Plant engineers oversee a manufacturing plant’s electrical and mechanical needs.
They ensure that the manufacturing plant is operating smoothly without any disruptions to its core function.
They plan and co-ordinate activities concerned with the design and construction of equipment and machinery in an industrial plant.
Plant engineers are all rounders as they can work in various organisations.
They also review project plans to ensure that timelines and blueprints are accurate.
Treatment plants
Especially in Fiji where there is population growth, industrial and commercial expansion has caused a demand for the services of Kinoya Water Treatment Plant.
Plant Engineers help design infrastructure help improve access to safe water and sewerage systems in the greater Suva area of Fiji.
We also have the Waila Water Treatment Plant which supplies water in the area.
These are facilities in Fiji that plant engineers are most needed for their expertise and knowledge.
We have factory plants that produce most of Fiji’s canned food etc.
Plant engineers in this area ensure that there is no disruption in the factory plant in terms of its production.
With a plant engineering qualification, careers one can pursue may include senior manufacturing engineer, project engineer managerant manager and water treatment supervisor etc.
Plant engineering is among four other major career fields in engineering.
The other engineering fields are chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering
