Bangladesh T20 jersey made from recycled fabric
Dhaka: The Bangladesh cricket team’s jersey for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup has been made from recycled fabric.
The front part of the two-part jersey is made from recycled jacquard fabric while the back is of mesh fabric to allow air circulation for the players to be slightly relieved from the middle eastern heat.
Bangladesh Cricket Board and its official jersey manufacturer Sports and Sportz launched the Bangladesh jersey through an unveiling ceremony at a Dhaka hotel Monday.
“This design is retro inspired from the 2004-05 jersey.
“It’s not exactly the same however. Bangladesh had worn a similar designed jersey during the NatWest series in England,” said owner of Sports and Sportz Mehtab Uddin to the media.
“The thread for the front part of the jersey is of recycled jacquard fabric, which is made from recycled plastic.
“The back part is made from mesh fabric which is able to regulate temperature well due to air circulation.
“We took the heat in the middle east into consideration while developing this jersey.
“The shoulder is red while the remaining part of the jersey is green to portray our national flag,” he added.
Bangladesh cricketers had worn the jersey during the practice match against Oman A team at Oman Cricket Academy Ground, last Friday.
The team will travel back to Oman this Friday to participate in the qualifier stage where they face Scotland in their first game Sunday at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat.
Bangladesh will then take on Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 19 and 21 respectively at the same venue in their bid to progress to the Super 12 phase.
