The big picture:

In a BSP Life Way newsletter in August, Mr Sharma highlighted he was part of the founding Executive team of BSP Life following the take-over from Colonial in late 2010.

“After some serious soul searching and deep thinking, especially looking at my family circumstances, as a priority, I have eventually decided to retire from BSP Life at the end of this month.

“This decision has been very tough for me and my family as we are so passionate about the BSP Life family and the entity. Some of my family members tell me that I’m more married to BSP Life than Susan ( ).

“The journey at BSP Life from 2008 has been the most challenging, most rewarding, most fulfilling and most importantly has been extremely satisfying in my 40 plus years of working life. Seeing the people grow around you and being part of their nurturing and mentoring has been so comforting and gives me so much satisfaction.

“I am starting a new journey in New Zealand (I’ll cheer for Fiji always!!!) but will always be thinking of each and everyone that has been part of me in my BSP

Life journey.

“I look forward to seeing the BSP Life family continue in every way to make Fiji (and the world) a better place!

“This should carry on without me or others that chose to hang their career hats! You each have a responsibility to lead by example, to nurture and protect what is good and right in this world and remember our business is here to make people look and feel better so that they too can make a positive impact.

“I wish to sincerely thank our MD and my EXCO colleagues, and I also extend my appreciation to our Group CEO Robin

Fleming and the Board for their ongoing guidance and leadership.

“Lastly but not the least, a big Vinaka vaka levu to each of my BSP Life family and I wish everyone a blessed and fulfilling life!

“God bless you all abundantly and please stay safe. (I hope we can cross paths again and if anyone ever visits New Zealand; please do reach out.”

The achievements:

In a BSP Life Way newsletter in August, BSP Life’s managing director, Michael Nacola noted that they had achieved a lot as a business, under various brands, leading up to the change-over to BSP Life.

“That solid foundation has been leveraged in the last 10 years with Pramesh spearheading value creation through our Investments Portfolio growth.

“When BSP Life took over, our IP was around $374m. In just over 10 years we have grown too close to $850m, more than doubling our IP size, which is testament to Pramesh’s leadership, business acumen and strong external networks, with the support of a strong team.

“We pay tribute to Pramesh and assure him that his proud legacy will be carried forward by the passionate Investments team that he has groomed.”

“Pramesh is a very experienced Executive who has contributed to all areas of our business with hands-on involvement in our private equities (PE) namely the private hospital, the Rooster business and Sofitel.

“His involvement in the PEs have supported the turnaround of these businesses from underperforming assets to businesses with strong growth potential. He served on the Boards of BSP Life’s wholly owned subsidiary Oceania Hospitals Pte Ltd, Future Farms Pte Limited (FFL), Suva Private and Richmond Limited.

He also previously held Chairman roles and served on Boards of other private and state-owned enterprises.”
