Family plan celebration, thanks Fijian Government for easing restrictions
Mohammed Ali of Labasa is thankful the Fijian Government and the people of Fiji for achieving 80 percent vaccination.
This has allowed him to celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday with family and friends.
Mr Ali currently works at the Nasinu Muslim Primary School as language teacher.
He said celebrating Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is an important event for his family because it is a time to reflect on his teachings.
“Firstly, we would like to thank Allah SWT for giving us the opportunity to celebrate the birth of his most beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). At the same time the people of this country who choose to get their jabs, and reach a milestone of 80 percent vaccination, which has enabled the lifting of restrictions.
“For us Muslims it’s very simple, we will never be able to thank God all mighty for the favours he has bestowed upon us, similarly whatever celebration we hold to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon him).
“Though God’s grace, we are blessed to hold gathering and celebrate in any way possible, these includes the 12 days daily celebrations but with COVID safety protocols,” said Mr Ali.
As part of his plans to celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Mr Ali will help the Muslim community make donations and feed the less fortunate families.
“Islam is about redistributing wealth from the rich to the poor, and that usually takes place through the year, through God’s will. Islam is about being a community, if the hand is hurt the whole body feels it and of course I will celebrate while following COVID safety protocols,” said Mr Ali.
For Mr Ali, Prophet Muhammad’s birthday was about celebrations the birth (Mulood Un Nabi) of Prophet Muhammad, Awal—the third month of the Islamic calendar.
