Fijians first

Tukai Lagonilakeba, Nadi.

SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya was seen on her Facebook page childishly biting a miniature Fiji Airways plane in her opposition to the purchasing and delivery of our latest additions to support our government’s vision in our quick economic recovery pathway.

Our national airline will be tasked to kick start our world famous tourism industry recovery and to create employment for the majority of Fijians who had lost their jobs through COVID-19.

All hell broke loose from all our narrowminded opposition parties who could not simply think of how we are going to turn our tourism industry around without the support from our only international airline.

SODELPA’s Viliame Gavoka, Lynda Tabuya, Unity Fiji Party Savenaca Narube, NFP’s Biman Prasad and Lenora Qereqeretabua, FLP’s Mahendra Chaudhry were all at it irresponsibly and very inconsiderate indeed in their calls and criticism of the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy.

They have forgotten the hundreds of thousands of Fijians and their families’ welfare who were directly affected when our largest industry came to a close from March 2020.

But again the government must be commended for their vision and foresight in maintaining the Fiji Airways fleets in maintaining our national priorities and interest.

A boom in businesses is expected when tourists get back to our shores and so will all else that indirectly related as we are now travel ready by December and great to note the official opening of our Fiji Airways Academy which is another great boost to our tourism sector and economy.

The academy will certainly attract the many thousands of airplane pilots from around the world to capitalise on what services it has to offer.

I personally believe they will bring with them their spouses and families to enjoy some holiday time here at the same time.

These opposition must understand that the bigger picture in the welfare of Fijians should always be the priority and that is exactly what our FijiFirst leadership and government is all about our Fijians first.

Thank you FRA

Sharif Shah, Savusavu.

I am deeply thankful to the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) and its team to finally do a better job on the Naqere circular road here in savusavu.

It has been a long time.
