Bua Schools get COVID-19 Resources
Dreketi and Bua based schools were provided with essential COVID-19 resources to support their ability in creating and managing a COVID safe environment.
COVID resources included masks and sanitiser packs.
Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Premila Kumar handed out these assistance items at both Dreketi Central College and Lekutu Central College on Thursday.
Ms Kumar, while handing out the assistance to school heads reminded school heads, teachers, students and management to use these resources wisely.
“We would not be able supply these resources to schools on an yearly basis because of the logistics and money involved in purchasing these resources,” she said.
Ms Kumar also encouraged various school managements present to secure their existing resources well during the course of the cyclone season.
The ministry in collaboration with donor agencies contributed in supporting these initiative.
Six schools (Valelawa Primary, Maramarua Primary, Dreketi Primary, Muanidevo Primary, Ahmadiyya Muslim College and Dreketi Central College) in Dreketi were also provided with electronic resources like printers, computer desktop and laptops.

Head teacher of Korokadi Primary School, Sanjay Kumar acknowledged the ministry’s commitment in ensuring teachers and school management have resources to continue and observe the mandatory COVID-safe protocols.
“These resources will reinforce our efforts to continue our COVID-risk mitigation process where students health is paramount,” Mr Kumar said.
