2 How to stay safe when shoppinG?

-

With much of the restrictions now relaxed and individuals allowed to gather again, many will have a burning need to shop extensively to ensure every loved one’s needs are met this Christmas. However, COVID-19 is still among us hence, the Council is encouraging consumers to continue to follow Covid-safe measures stipulated by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

When shopping for Christmas, consider the following safety measures:

Wear mask – when shopping, wear a mask and maintain physical distancing measures. This helps protect you from the virus. Avoid queues and crowds by shopping at off peak hours.

Follow space markings – Look out for space markings on the floors in shops and always follow them. Businesses have marked this to help maintain physical distancing.

Download and install the CareFiji app - Consumers should keep in mind that the app will only work if the Bluetooth in the smart phone is also switched on. Keep the app activated all the times. CareFiji app is an important tool for the health authorities in their contact tracing efforts.

Sanitize – Regularly wash and sanitize your hands and pack your own sanitizer when possible.

Go cashless - The exchange of notes and coins means physical contact with other people. Consumers should always sanitize or wash their hands thoroughly after exchanging cash. Better yet, consumers can go cashless and use EFTPOS and other online platforms to make payments. However, hand hygiene should still be practiced.

Stay home if you’re feeling unwell!
