Are you aware of the Lovo feast? Well, you should visit the Fiji Island during Christmas to explore the Love Feast. The main dishes which are included in the Lovo Feast are Dalo, Cassava and garlic spice chicken, pork, beef, and fish.
During the Fijian Christmas, you can also get the Fiji Christian traditional dish of Palusami. It is a dish made of mutton which comes in the wrapped form of mutton and cooked with coconut milk.
Fiji has also got a traditional drink which you should always try. It is known as Kava. It is the national drink of Fiji and has a very interesting recipe. It comprises of the extracts of a root of a plant of the pepper family. Medicinal values are also present in the drink, so you must try it. What is notable is that only the village spokesperson is allowed to mix the Kava during any celebration.
As a chief guest, you will be served with a cup named as ‘bilo’. You must always clap before drinking the first cup of Kava also known as Yaqona. In case of a formal Kava celebration, the serving process will be done according to the ranking of importance of the village. It is the main drink which acts to promote the social bonding between the people.
