‘Our furthest post office apart from Rotuma, would be Ono-i-Lau, which is closer to Tonga than it is to Fiji.’

Post Fiji’s head of marketing and retail, Isaac Mow, enjoys gardening. “A lot of people don’t know I have a farm in Tailevu where we grow dalo and yaqona,” he said.

He also serves as coach and technical advisor for the Marist women’s rugby team and the Marist Rugby Club.

Mr Mow’s rise to fame began at an early age when he played rugby on a national and international level.

Through professional rugby, he resided and played the sport in New Zealand and France.

His exposure in France has enabled him to help post Fiji rugby players to France.

Such examples would include names such as Netani Talei, Jale Vatubua and Apisai Waqaliva.

Mr Mow has been with Post Fiji for the past 19 years.

Mr Mow is a former student of Marist Brothers High School.

What is the one place in Fiji you would take visitors to, and why?

Nacula, Yasawa, without question.

There is no place here in Fiji that can compare to Nacula.

Sitting at Oarsman’s Bay Lodge looking across the sea to the surrounding islands has a calming effect, from the hustle and bustle of the city.

What is your favourite place for coffee/pie?

Moments, for the cheesecakes.

They make the best blueberry shake.

What is your favourite backyard spot, and why?

Rugby.

I come from a family of boxers.

I broke from that history to take up rugby. When I got into Marist, I had a chance to play rugby.

Rugby is my personal passion because in those days we did not have television or technological reaction.

In the village, we would use plastic bottles as a rugby ball.

What is one place on your bucket list?

Lau.

I’ve been to Vanuabalavu, but no further. Our furthest post office apart from Rotuma, would be Ono-i-Lau, which is closer to Tonga than it is to Fiji.
