Ritisha looks forward to return to classes

Year nine student of Nakasi High School is looking forward to go back to school next year. While families plan for Christmas celebrations, Ritisha Prasad accompanied her siblings and mother to look for school lunch boxes.
Her subjects in school included Commerce studies, English, Mathematics, Social Science, Basic Science, Home Economics and Agriculture.
Zoom classes
Ms Prasad said it has been long since she saw her fellow classmates.
Her mother Renuka Prasad was happy to hear that school would resume next year as her daughters have been doing their studies via zoom meeting.
“I have made sure that they have the materials they needed to continue their studies at home during all the lockdown periods and school closures. We wanted to make sure that they didn’t miss anything on their studies,” she said.
Since schools closed abruptly, Mrs Prasad said stationery and school uniforms for her daughter were still in good condition.
She said it helped cut costs from buying school materials.
“We don’t need to spend much money on their school materials because they will use the same ones from last years. We are looking forward for them to return to school and resume learning,” she said.
As schools had closed early this year because of the spread of the pandemic in Fiji, school children had to resort of zoom meeting for their classes.
At the moment, only Years 12 and 13 students have returned to school as the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts revisits the school plan.
The school plan is aimed to provide a safe environment for teachers, students and ancillary staff in schools.
