Nukuloa, Naverea residents happy with major road work
Residents of Nukuloa and Naverea in Savusavu have acknowledged RPA Group Fiji Limited for carrying out major road development and repair work for the first time in five years.
RPA Group Fiji Limited is a road maintenance contractor under the Fiji Roads Authority in the Northern Division.
Managing director Ronesh Kumar said the assistance was part of their company’s commitment to ensure affected communities and people had proper road access to carry out their daily activities.
Mr Kumar said they would continue with this sort of assistance in the coming year because everyone
deserves easy movement and access to government services.
Nukuloa
Nukuloa road committee spokesperson, Sheik Arif, said their prayers had been answered.
“This is the first time in five years that road repairs have taken place in our area. I want to convey my deepest appreciation towards Mr Kumar, his company and staff for hearing our request and repairing our road free of cost,” Mr Arif said.
Road work
The repairs began on Wednesday.
Works included 800 metres of road repairs where grading, gravelling, concrete piping and other water cart piping provisions were carried out.
Mr Arif was filled with happiness when he described how the residents were celebrating when they saw the work began.
Mr Arif said residents had to cart their groceries from the main road to their homes on foot because no hired vehicles would travel to their homes because of the poor road conditions.
Naverea
Naverea spokesperson Rohit Singh said more than 50 houses in the area would benefit from the development and they were thankful.
“This 500-metre feeder road would also benefit the students who always walk to catch the bus from the main road.”
