- SAMPRAS ANAND LABASA Edited by Losirene Lacanivalu Feedback: sampras.anand@fijisun.

Sourcing inspiration from her experiences and others is what drove Archana Reddy to write her novella titled ‘A Boon or Bane’ and that is now published on Amazon.

Originally from Wailevu, Labasa, the 28-year-old is an Assistant teacher at the School of Business and Economics based at the University of Fiji (UniFiji) Samabula campus.

Ms Reddy has been writing short pieces for non-government organisations and created short stories and articles for a long time now.

“This edition in the form of a novel was essentially a step forward in terms of empowering youths and conveying a message through my writing,” she said.

She said her novel follows a narrative of an island girl ‘Mia’ and her life adventurers and attempts to educate and empower readers that despite the challenges and struggles one goes through, a person can overcome these with the right mindset and clear goals and priorities in place.

“People and especially students face a major decision in their life to enjoy their comfort zone or to

step out of that zone and leave their families, home, luxurious life, friends, special moments just to focus on a specific goal in mind,” Ms Reddy said.

“The novella is generalised and includes target audience from all age groups who need inspiration and a sense of personal upliftment,” she said.

Ms Reddy said her parents had always been supportive and were proud of her achievements in life.

She advised other inspiring writers to go ahead and write their own stories and use the power of writing to change lives and never be discouraged by the critics you would meet along this journey.
