Injured Digicel Fiji and ATK Mohun Bagan football captain Roy Krishna is expected to be back when they tale on FC Goa in the Indian Super League at the PJN stadium, Fatorda, Goa, India on Thursday, December 30.

Krishna, who had one assist in the 3-2 victory over the North East United FC at Fatorda on Wednesday, suffered a few cuts to his head.

He needed five stitches and would probably need to wear a headgear in their next match.

The Siberia, Labasa native has confirmed that the cuts should be healed in time before their match next week.

“The cuts are not serious, they should heal soon but I might need to wear the headgear for protection,” Krishna said.

“We did better this time around to come away with three points,” he said.

“We had trained hard for the match against North East United FC; we are happy for the win.

“We are back to training and work in preparation for the next match with our new coach.

“We’ve had some changes since the last match with our former coach leaving and our new coach taking us to our first match with him this time.”

On the points table, Mariner are runners-up, ATK Mohun Bagan is sharing fifth spot with 11 points with Hyderabad, and Chennaiyin of the ISL standing 2021 – 2022 after three wins, two draws and two losses. Defending champions Mumbai City FC leads with 15 points, ahead of Jamshedpur FC (12).

“There’s quite a bit of adjusting to be done but we don’t have a lot of time so we have to keep the ball rolling and focus on our next match. Obviously the new coach (Juan Fernandez) brings in his own style of play and we will have to adapt accordingly,” he said.
