With her down to earth personality, she brings to the table her vast experience and knowledge and she is able to sit with the staff members of boards or institutions she works with to re-engineer processes and add value to their organisations.

The past two years hasn’t been a smooth sail but Lorraine Seeto has weathered the storm.

Ms Seeto, a former central banker and advisor to the Reserve Bank of Fiji Governors, has been described by some for having an impeccable reputation for competence and integrity.

Her strengths

Her strength is in uplifting others knowing there is no competition.

With her down to earth personality, she brings to the table her vast experience and knowledge and she is able to sit with the staff members of boards or institutions she works with to re-engineer processes and add value to their organisations.

Many who have collaborated and worked with her on projects have gained great insights into her work ethics where nothing beats hard work and working smarter.

Her great attention to detail and being focussed on the task at hand with a no nonsense attitude are traits that her teams attribute to her success.

She was appointed to the boards of Housing Authority (HA) Board and Public Rental Board (PRB) in 2020 under Premila Kumar, who was then the Minister for Housing and Community Development.

Ms Seeto brought structure and governance to the two institutions.

It is understood that she had to play catch up with the pending annual reports, set up sub committees, provided mentoring and advice and where required engaged directly with staff to get things done.

Ms Seeto resigned from both the boards on October 25, after the new board appointees came on board with immediate effect after the announcement by the Attorney-General and Minister for Housing and Community Development, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The A-G also thanked Ms Seeto and her former members of the Housing Authority and Public Rental Board for their service to the country.

In a nutshell, being appointed to the HA and PRB Board or any board for that matter - is the prerogative of the Minister to appoint and disappoint.
