THIS FESTIVE SEASON WE WOULD LIKE TO RE-EMPHASISE THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP AND SIMPLE CRIME PREVENTION MEASURES THAT ARE AROUND US

The Fiji Police Force is advising members of the public to practice safety and security during the long Christmas week.

Fiji Police Force says while the focus is on the Christmas celebrations, people’s safety and security should not be forgotten.

They highlighted that at a time when families get caught up in the hype of social activities, people tend to overlook issues of security and safety.

“These include the safety of our children and their whereabouts during social gatherings. Securing homes and properties. Checking fire hazards and on our roads, road safety.

“This festive season we would like to re-emphasise the importance of community ownership and simple crime prevention measures that are around us.”

Fiji Police Force is advising families who are planning to spend Christmas away from home, to inform their neighbours, and exchange contacts.

This is to so if the neighbors see anything suspicious, they can alert the home owner immediately.

“Knowing your neighbour in today’s busy society has become a rarity and the Fiji Police Force is hoping to revive the concept this festive season, because we can do so much when we work together and it starts from home and the very people you see every day, your neighbours.

“So, as we enjoy the festivities, let’s not lose sight of maintaining safety and security and if you need assistance call any of your command centres as well.”

The Fiji Police Force is wishing everyone a safe and joyous Christmas.
