Support local businesses during this Christmas, Hill encourages Fijians
This Christmas, Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill is encouraging Fijians to buy local Fijian made products and support local businesses.
Mr Hill said as families plan their Christmas celebrations, he wished to thank all Fijians for the collaborative efforts leading up to the reopening of Fiji’s international borders.
“I want to thank so many, for the duavata spirit that collectively has seen us reopen our borders safely, to the world.
“We have challenges in front of us, and 2022 will no doubt test us. But the collective spirit of togetherness and teamwork that drove us forward in 2021, can again get us through,” he said.
Fiji’s tourism sector was one of the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as international borders were closed.
Since reopening on December 1, with tourists coming in and COVID-19 protocols put in place, it gives Fiji the best opportunity to keep its borders open.
Mr Hill thanked Fiji’s tourism industry which has collectively had a really tough two years.
“And with the amazing work of everyone in Fiji rolling up their sleeve and getting vaccinated, and adhering to the protocols like wearing masks and social distancing, we are doing really well.
“So, I am so thrilled that this Christmas, we can raise a toast to tourists now coming in and enjoying Fiji safely, and that more of us are back in our jobs and back doing what we love to do,” he said.
This is Mr Hill’s first Christmas in Fiji since his appointment of head of Tourism Fiji in July this year.
This Christmas, Mr Hill wishes to thank all Fijians for the duavata spirit that has helped reopen Fiji’s borders safely.
“For Kel and I this is our first Christmas here in Fiji, and we are so glad to be here. We love Fiji, and feel like we are kaiviti now, and we look forward to enjoying some Fijian seafood and a Blue Turtle gin & tonic, and enjoying a few days recharging, ready for a big 2022,” he said.
He encouraged families to enjoy as much local produce, listen to local Fijian musicians, and wear FijiMade clothes this Christmas.
