It’s Beachcomber with Friends for PakistaniFijian Logger, ‘Grand Old Lady’ for Coffee
‘...it is affordable, accessible and offers good services’
APakistani businessman who has resided in Fiji for the past 16 years is working to achieve his one aspiration for Fiji - maximising remittances.
Imran Qamer, the sole proprietor for Touchwood Sawmillers Pte Ltd, resides at Navua, where his saw mill business is located.
He has traded timber since 2016, and is preparing to leave for Dubai in February, with hopes of expanding his export market.
“In order to maximise remittances, we have to improve our production volume,” Mr Qamer said.
He exports five containers of timber to Japan in a month, and employs 15 people.
Mr Qamer’s expansion plans include setting up a centralised facility in Nausori next year, where his company will mill and pack timber for export.
He arrived in Fiji 16 years ago as a motor vehicle dealer and has remained.
“We imported used cars and car parts, before I joined the timber sector,” he said.
