New Year, New Beginnings, New Goals
The year 2021 was a tough on for many families in Fiji and other countries. But there are still hope and belief left among families to go through this challenging year.
As the New Year has now approached, Naushad Ali and his family have come up with resolutions to fight the COVID-19 battle in unity.
The 26-year-old of Vuci, Nausori, said his life during this pandemic had cause a lot of tension in his family life.
Mr Ali is a teacher at Nasinu Muslim Primary School and he is the only sole breadwinner in the family of six.
He said the family had faced ups and downs relating to finance and other problems that affected their daily lives.
“People in Fiji and other countries have faced a lot of issues during the pandemic. I am glad that through family support, I was able to look after them despite many hardships we had gone through,” Mr Ali said.
He said family was the only thing that was keeping him motivated.
“This pandemic had affected us mentally and physically too. My sister and my younger brother had been COVID positive during the lockdown and it was really depressing for the whole family. The symptoms were not severe yet, it felt like something might happen because the cases were so high that it made our family paranoid and anxious when we went out on the public,” he said.
He encouraged Fijians not to lose hope and to be grateful for what they have.
“There are family who have lost their loved once because of COVID-19. Be fortunate that you are still alive and healthy,” he added.
“Things will get tough if you give up. The best solution is to make a strong mindset to keep your families and friends safe.
“It is not too late. We can combat this pandemic together.
“2021 is gone. It is time to say goodbye to the past and we have to plan for our better future in the New Year 2022.”
