A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE WHOLE OF THE FIJI GROUP.

Situation:

A convergence zone with associated cloud and showers lies slow moving over Fiji. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure with cloud and rain approaches the country from the southwest and is expected to affect the group from tonight.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji Group:

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms over most places. Showers increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from later tonight.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low lying areas. Motorists can expect poor visibility and unfavourable driving conditions in areas of heavy falls. Moderate northerly winds. Moderate seas.

Outlook for today : Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms over most places.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Occasional showers with few thunderstorms. Showers increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from tonight.

For Sigatoka / Coral Coast:

Showers especially in the afternoon or evening increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from today. Outlook for today: Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Showers especially in the afternoon or evening increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from tomorrow. Outlook for today : Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

Occasional showers with few thunderstorms. Showers increasing to rain and becoming frequent and heavy from later today.
