Sports, fun day for youths at Labasa Church
Victory Christian Fellowship church members in Labasa organised a fun day for their children and youths as a means to holistically develop them both physically and mentally.
The church based at Volovi held sporting and physical-based sessions to develop gross motor skills as more than 20 children/youths from kindergarten to early secondary school attended.
Church pastor, Samuel Jeet, said this was a key programmme that encouraged healthy living among children and youths.
Mr Jeet said apart from religious teachings learned, having extracurricular events for youths was influential in the development of a physically competent child/youth.
“When they are involved in sports, they build relationships with others as well as coordination and teamwork skills are taught,” he said.
He reiterated character development was enhanced after the sessions as youths were overwhelmed with the joy of competing and enjoying sports with friends.
Parent, Sanil Sami, thanked his pastor and their congregation for prioritising children/youths in games and activities.
Mr Sami’s son attended the sports sessions and believed his time was well spent helping his son train and enjoy the fun day.
Meanwhile, more similar sports and physical bonding training have been planned and parents and adult core of church members are expected to organise a grand Christmas this year.
Prizes were given for the outstanding children/youths and participatory purposes as well to attract their interest to this fun day happenings.
The church has other branches in Savusavu, Raranikawai and in Suva as well.
