Unity Fiji leader, Savenaca Narube, pleaded with those that were present at the party rally in Nausori on Saturday to stop voting for those that don’t treat people right.

“True leadership is about always putting people first, the only thing the old politicians will do is give the people false promises,” Mr Narube said.

“It has been a long journey, let us step into the light and take this leadership out from where we are now.

“Why are we supporting those that have hurt us, is it because they throw us lollies this time before the vote. They deceive us with little things.

“They don’t deserve our vote. It is time to bring back the leadership of the Government to your hands and let us do it in this election.”

He said the party was proclaiming that the party’s economic transformation programme will transform every Fijian.

“There is no dirt in our party and our hands are clean. Stop voting for those whose hands are not clean,” Mr Narube said.

“The highest priority in our manifesto is to remove poverty from your lives. We have been living in poverty for too long, especially for us the iTaukei.

“According to researchers, around 300,000 iTaukei live in poverty. Ladies and gentlemen, we have been independent for 52 years but we the landowners are still living in poverty.”

Supporter

Filimoni Turaga, 68 said he was glad that he attended the rally.

“I came to town to do our shopping and I stopped when I heard some interesting facts shared by Unity Fiji candidates. Instead of doing my shopping I came to the tent and listened,” Mr Turaga said.

“Mr Narube is a smart man and I know that he would make a good Prime Minister. The leadership of the current Prime Minister is far too long and people want change.

“I was not sure which party to vote for but now I am sure.”

More than 200 people attended the rally.
