Discipline is an issue that is a concern for Flying Fijians head coach, Vern Cotter, despite the team’s 46-14 win over the French Barbarians in Lille, France, yesterday morning.

And the no-nonsense coach has hinted of taking tougher measures to deal with the matter.

“The players lacked discipline and better choices will have to be made in the future,” Cotter told Sports 59/62.

However, he said it was important for the team to win after two successive losses.

The Flying Fijians wingers, Jiuta Wainiqolo and Vinaya Habosi, scored two tries each.

The Fijians took the lead in the 10th minute with a try to captain Waisea Nayacalevu, which was converted by Ben Volavola. However, the hosts scored a converted try to Alexander Roumat from a rolling maul in the 20th minute.

The visitors immediately struck back in the 21st minute with a try to Wainiqolo, followed by Habosi in the 34th minute before veteran lock, Api Ratuinyarawa, scored the fourth try right on halftime, with Volavola landing three conversions for a 26-7 lead at the break.

The Barbarians came back firing and scored a converted try as they trailed 26-14.

The Fijians answered with tries scored by Wainiqolo, Sireli Maqala and Habosi, with Volavola adding the extras.

French Barbarians coach Christian Labit said: “We tried to fight with our weapons but we lacked

density. There were a lot of young players in the squad because it is very difficult to have players in this period.

“But we mostly thwarted against Fijian players, some of whom are among the best three-quarters in the world.”

Former France halfback and

Barbarians captain, Maxime Machenaud, said the Fijians were much superior in every area of the game.
