Industry Demand
Fiji National University (FNU) is the only university responding to the Food Technology needs of the country.
Offering several food technology programmes from Bachelors to Postgraduate levels with pathways to master’s degrees.
All the food technology programmes have been developed based on industry needs. Graduates trained to date and current practices in the industry. FNU’s Food technology programmes are coordinated by the Department of Food Science and Home Economics under the School of Applied Sciences at the College of Engineering Science and Technology.
The programme aims to develop students’ theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in food science and technology applications in a broad range of food industries.
The Diploma in Food Technology was developed and first offered in 2006 in response to an industry request for a specialised food technology course.
Bachelor programme
The introduction of the bachelor’s program has allowed our diploma graduates to up skill and upgrade their qualifications together with being promoted to higher ranks within their institutions.
The Postgraduate course was first offered in 2019.
This programme enables students to have in-depth knowledge, skills in addressing challenges associated with food processing, food safety, food quality and health.
It also allows a pathway into relevant Master of Science Courses offered by FNU.
