Delay in Completion of $20m Nausori Mall
Construction on the Zhong Fhei Nausori Mall in Nausori will continue in next year. The $20 million project at the old Nausori bus stand site commenced in 2018, and was expected to be completed by August this year. However, the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and escalating shipping costs were among reasons behind the delay, the Nausori Town Council said.
SunBiz made attempts to contact management of the company were unsuccessful.
Located on the banks of the Rewa River, the mall will serve as a tourist attraction, as the complex will have an entrance from the river end that allows for water sporting activities.
The construction of the three-story complex which will have floor space for supermarkets, retail outlets, and conference rooms.
Restaurants and cafes, hair and beauty salons and apartments, are part of the attractions the building expects.
The company recently advertised vacancies for carpentry.
WG Friendship Tower
In another development, a court hearing on a winding up application involving Suva’s skycrapper, WG Friendship Plaza, has been moved to next year.
The case involving a local engineering company will be heard in January.
In an advertisement in September, a winding up application of WG International Real Estate Co (Fiji) PTE Limited was made by Engineered Designs PTE Limited. The application was made in August at the Civil High Court in Suva.
The multi-million dollar tower is a 28-storey building that has been under construction since 2017. Located along McGregor Road, it is way behind schedule over its construction, with SunBiz receiving confirmation of suspension of finances for the prestigious project. WG International Real Estate representative, Julian Yuen, earlier confirmed: “Wyndham Hotels and Resorts would occupy level 19 to 25 with the hotel rooms and suites, while its state of the art conference facilities will be available
FHL Tower
Further down the road from WG Tower, construction of FHL Tower appears to be on hold, as the daily din heard from the site remains quiet.
Construction is incomplete, as Fijian Holdings awaits funding through a public loan, to further the project.
