FijiFirst Promotes Fair Appointment of Civil Servants: Sayed-Khaiyum
The FijiFirst party will always promote fair civil servant appointments without provincial or divisional favours for these jobs.
FijiFirst general secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, made this point referring to comments made earlier by The People’s Alliance leader, Sitiveni Rabuka on the appointment of 70 per cent of top civil servants from Vanua Levu during his term as Prime Minister. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the FijiFirst party worked on an open merit recruitment system for all civil servant appointments.
“Our Prime Minister comes from Tailevu Province, but, that does not mean that we will also favour civil servant appointments from this province without any proper process,” he said.
On Tuesday, he accompanied the FijiFirst Party leader, Voreqe Bainimarama and candidates, Premila Kumar, Mosese Bulitavu and Ratu Meleti Raimuria on Day Two of the Vanua Levu 2022 general election rally at Narain Park in Savusavu Town.
He reiterated that they had the fastest rate of development and economic progress. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum encouraged voters to support and vote for a Prime Minister who has a respectable and progressive track record for national growth and stability. “We lost our National Bank of Fiji under the Rabuka-led government because of the high degree of corruption that existed within the operation of its service,” he said.
Under this Government, the Home Finance Company (HFC) Bank was growing steadily and operations were ethicallly managed for sustainability.
Makereta Keresi, 20, supported the many initiatives which the FijiFirst Party introduced under its leadership, such as the Tertiary Education Loans scheme for students, free education from Year One to Year 13, free bus fare were some of the benefits students enjoyed through FijiFirst party policies.
