Economic Transformation, the backbone for Unity Fiji
Residents of Nadonumai posed some relevant questions to Unity Fiji during its rally in the area on Wednesday night.
Atunaisa Mocenalutu asked the party general secretary, Mosese Bakaniceva, how the party would fund policies it made in its manifesto.
Another, a youth, asked:
The party’s stance to subdue student loans,
The party’s efforts to bring back youth who missed out on higher education opportunity,
The implementation of the party’s education policies in the first one hundred days into power. Speaking to group of around 25 people, Mr Bakaniceva, who was quick to answer and clarify said the party had dedicated a well-calculated manifesto with figures and sum of funds listed in its manifesto booklet.
Per its manifesto, the party
through an economic flagship initiative would transform the economy and reduce income disparity. “Our Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), is focused on putting more money into people’s pockets,” he said.
“The party will raise the income tax threshold to $40,000 and reduce income taxes for those earning less than $50,000.
Additionally, Mr Bakaniceva said
the party would support the younger generation.
“Everything we will do, we will try to give the opportunity for all youths to pursue their education,” Mr Balaniceva said.
“That means, education fees and tuition will not be required, because our view is youth shouldn’t stop pursuing their education just because they are not able to afford it.”
Meanwhile, under the party’s manifesto, disclosures of continuation of education assistance from primary to secondary schools are listed, extending free education to the tertiary level – forgiving all tertiary education loans.
The party released its manifesto on November 4.
