Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay Lights Up For Holiday Celebratio­ns

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay hosted a festive celebratio­n during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday at its luxurious bayside resort.

The Christmas festivitie­s began with the colourful St Thomas High School band marching followed by the Lomawai Village choir who sang Christmas carols.

There was a prayer of blessing and a traditiona­l Kava ceremony to welcome chief guest, Tui Nalolo, Ratu Kini Vosailagi, the chief of Wai District .

The evening programme also included Santa’s arrival on a Jetski in the Lagoon, bearing sweet treats for the children and guests alike.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay general manager Silvano Dressino, said Christmas was an important time to come together to celebrate, to give and to share.

“I am extremely grateful that we can celebrate this year’s festive season with our team back in full force thanks to the strong recovery we have seen since the internatio­nal borders reopened last year in December,” he said.

“This year we have been able to rehire 170 of our associates and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for being resilient and loyal during the years with closed borders.”

Mr Dressino added that they were pleased to add some new local talent

to the team and proud that the first 38 participan­ts of the newly founded Fiji Marriott Training Academy have graduated in July.

“These young people from our six land-owning communitie­s around Momi Bay have undergone a thorough department­al training programme and are now part of our Momi family so our guests can experience their genuine and warm Bula Spirit.”

In true spirit to serve the communitie­s Marriott Hotels and Resorts operate in, the resort invited students of Savusavu Primary School, Namata Primary and Ratu Nemani Primary, Wai District, and Tau

Primary to design and craft ornaments using sustainabl­e materials that can be put up on their Christmas tree.

In return, the resort provided school shoe vouchers to Year One students of participat­ing schools.
