Koh Samui In Marriott’s Sunset Series
Imagine sitting on the beach, lapping up the sunset, to the beat of Thai surroundings. That’s what guests were treated to at the Momi Bay Sunset Series, compliments of Marriott Fiji Momi Bay Resort, when the fourth edition of the resort’s Sunset Series, displayed everything Koh Samui.
New executive chef, Saravanan Subramanian, curated an authentic Thai buffet menu for the evening, combining popular Northern and Southern Thai flavours.
Mr Subramania made Fiji his new home after eight years of culinary experience in Bangkok, Thailand.
Originally from Chennai, Southern India, he spent Thailand was known for salad, Thai curries, and the sticky mango rice.
DJ Christonite Boginikua and VOU Dance Fiji performed to the beat of Koh Samui cultural entertainment.
The sunset series was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, when international borders were closed.
“We lost our locals, and we brought the world’s best beach destinations to Fiji for our locals,” general manager, Silvano Dressino, said.
“We started with Goa (India).”
Other themes were Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Ibiza (Spain).
“Tonight we celebrate the fourth edition, traveling all the way to Thailand, of course on the small island, which is famous for its full moon parties,” Mr Dressino said.
“We have Thai inspired cocktails.”
US couple, Karen and Haashim Ali, have remained Marriott Bonvoy members for the past 10 years.
Mrs Ali, originally from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, said the property was similar to the Maldives.
“We were here for a week,” she said.
“It is similar to the Caribbeans, where we have overwater villas.
“The place is very clean, the service is amazing;
“I’ll definitely come back.
“This is the one that makes you want to get to Fiji.”
