NAVUA RESIDENTS WITNESS FIRST CHRISTMAS HYPE
A STREET PARTY ON NEW YEAR’S EVE IS ALSO IN THE LINE-UP AS ORGANISERS PROMISED TO MAKE THE TOWN MORE ALIVE IN FUTURE More such events will be done to bring the people of Serua and Namosi together.
The festive season has finally come to the small town of Navua. For the first time, residents witnessed the first Christmas tree lighting on the main street on December 21 with hundreds witnessing the spectacular event.
It was accompanied with the traditional caroling and entertainment in front of the Navua Post Office.
If you think the season festivities has ended there, chin up, a street party on New Year’s Eve is also in the line-up as organisers promised to make the town more alive in future.
The programme was initiated by dedicated community members, the Serua-Namosi District Advisory Council, Office of PA Serua, with the partnership of the Lami Town Council and Vodafone Fiji.
Serua-Namosi District Advisory Council chairperson, Kamal Narayan, said the successful event was a great opportunity for families in Navua to celebrate Christmas in a more enjoyable manner.
“The event brought families and friends together to enjoy the time out,” Mr Narayan said.
“We had a Santa Float escort starting from Namosi Provincial House through Navua Town for the distribution of candies and toys to children.
“We thank Make a Difference Fiji for the contribution towards making the event more exciting for the children.
New Year line-up:
■ Begins at 4pm at the Navua Post Fiji Bus bay/car park
■ Space available for food and variety stalls. Bouncy Castle and many more activities will be available for the children
Mr Narayan said with large support from the public and stakeholders the organizing committee wishes to bring the public together by creating a symbol of peace, prosperity and harmony amongst people.
