The forever caring heart is what Anatai Baleisuva will miss the most from her three-year-old son, Timoci Kawa Junior.

Junior, as he was normally referred to, died on Monday after allegedly sustaining injuries from a sliding steel gate that fell on him at the Viseisei Health Centre in Lautoka last week.

Junior was the second youngest child of four children.

Ms Baleisuva, 35, said it was a hard time for the family as they had just completed the Christmas season.

She shared that between the hours of 3pm and 4pm last Thursday, Junior was due to visit the health centre for his third and final injection to cure a boil he had on his head.

She said that she had also taken along her 10-year-old daughter, Reapi Buloulevu and five-month-old son, Eliki Lote Tamata.

“Thursday was the last day, we went for the injection, we came out from the health centre after getting his injection done, I sat on the bench to feed my five-month-old baby,” said Ms Baleisuva.

“My son (Junior) went to the sliding gate and he was just holding onto, at the same time it fell on him. He was lying flat on the ground with blood gushing out of his mouth and ears.”

She claimed that the gate was damaged, but there was no warning sign about it.

“Every time we would go to the health centre, children would normally hang around that same spot, but my son is small and he can’t

climb the gate,” she said.

“Everything happened so fast, I was still breastfeeding my youngest when the staff ran out to help him.

“They nursed him till the ambulance arrived and we left for the Lautoka Hospital.”

Ms Baleisuva said her son drew inspiration from his father and had dreamed of becoming a driver someday.

“We miss him, the house is quiet now without him,” she added.

The family is waiting on the postmortem results before deciding his funeral date.

Police said no report was lodged, but the incident was only known after Junior’s passing.
