The Local Government Officers Association (LGOA) members are happy to receive Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) for its members who are employed by the Lautoka City Council and Ba Town Council.
The Lautoka/Ba chairperson special administrator Anil Amin has demonstrated his able leadership to reach a decision in a timely manner.
In a meeting both parties managed to settle COLA as follows: -
■ Lautoka City Council – 5 per cent COLA for 2022 (Backdated to January 1, 2022)
■ Ba Town Council- 5 per cent COLA for 2021, 3 per cent COLA for 2022 and upgrade of wages in line with national minimum wage effective from January 1, 2023, 3 per cent COLA for 2023.
■ Association president Rouhit Karan Singh thanked the council for its decision.
“Let’s do it for the council. Our name as council is shining because of everyone’s efforts,” Mr Singh
said.
He said those at the Lautoka City Council were committed to work together for the betterment of Fiji. “Let’s embrace each other, commit ourselves in building a better Fiji, change our attitudes towards work and give the best, change our way of thinking, the way we live, and the way we respond to situations. Our actions are monitored through our service delivery and efficiency. Let
us prioritise our actions,” he said.
He said they had a harmonious relationship with their social partners.
“We fight, discuss and try to find amicable solutions. We applaud the decisions of the council and see no reason that through strong and committed social dialogue, we will resolve employment and industrial relation matters at earliest and in a timely manner. Let us all be protected and we urge solidarity and unity among us rather than be seen divided,” he said.
“Let us join hands and work together. We need genuine, trustbased dialogue so we respect each other with compassion and honesty.” The members received their back pay during the festive season.
