The Good Lord’s unfailing love for you will never be shaken. This was the crux of the message delivered by President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, when he visited:

Dilkusha Home in Nausori, St Christopher’s Home,

Homes of Hope in Wailoku, St Philomena Coptic Orthodox Children’s Home in Nailuva and,

Frank Hilton Organisation Hostel in Suva

During the visit on Thursday, Ratu Wiliame encouraged the wards of the homes not to lose hope but to face the challenges of life.

“I believe that with the experience that you go through, you will ensure that you will always look back and encourage those who follow you,” Ratu Wiliame said.

“Use that opportunity to share the challenge that you go through and always remind your brothers and sisters that life is a mystery to be lived.

“There will always be challenges but if you look at it as a mystery and with the faith that is in you will excel to be the best.

“It is my prayer that you will find your purpose in life and please never forget the institution that you were brought up in and use it as your yardstick to achieve greatness in life.”

Ratu Wiliame said that education was the key and with the support of the Christian denominations that run the home the children will also get the best there is to offer. He also encouraged relatives of children in the homes and at the Frank Hilton Organisation to have a heart for their relatives at the hostel and visit them.

“You don’t deserve to be neglected by your loved ones and my first visit here has touched my heart,” he said.

“Compassion is all we have for you and we will encourage your relatives to come and visit you here at the Hilton hostel.”

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, Ashwin Raj, acknowledged the good Samaritans who always lend a helping hand to homes and children.

“We are thankful for their generosity and the Ministry will continue to work with the homes to make sure they continue to be safe spaces and consistent with human dignity,” Mr Raj said.

“The sky is the limit for our children in the homes and I encourage you to wake up every morning and dream and quietly work towards that dream.”
