Our coalition Government

With our coalition Government line-up there are 19 Cabinet ministers and 10 assistant ministers to be exact.

And, l see nothing wrong with that as Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka can now see the reality on the ground with the heavy workload, since he is the ship captain.

I can see that he wishes to fast-tract service deliveries at the expected standard of excellence to the Fijian public as dictated and committed to by the different coalition party manifestos.

Fijians or taxpayers of the nation should not worry but sit back and wait for results. Our parliamentarians, both Government and Opposition, are in place and Fijians should leave the ding dongs to them and not interfere.

It realistically does not matter if our new Government can achieve its promises within the first 100 days or not because they have four years at their discretion. l also believe our Government will face many obstacles and drawbacks, for example, heavy rain, flash flooding, cyclones, tsunamis, or simply put, many unexpected acts of nature that will affect budget, progress and prior commitments.

Like the former FijiFirst Government, it was unable to fulfill many promises resulting from the effects of cyclone Winston and many other cyclones and floodings, with the cost damage hitting the billion-dollar mark. Then came COVID-19 where our maritime borders and airspace were closed for two consecutive years.

And just as the former Government announced the opening of our borders, the Russian President Putin invaded Ukraine, which continues to have a negative impact globally today.

This all history now, but let’s wait and see.
