Fiji’s Outsourcing Industry “hits all the right spots” – Minister Kamikamica
Outsource Fiji (Business Process Outsourcing Council of Fiji) executive director, Sagufta Janif met with the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for External Trade, SMEs and Cooperatives Manoa Kamikamica, to discuss on the prospects of Fiji’s outsourcing industry.
While meeting with Ms Janif, the Minister commended Outsource Fiji for its efforts to promote Fiji as an Outsourcing destination of choice.
“The Council needs to be congratulated for creating genuine momentum from scratch. I remember when I was in the BPO Council, we were in the process of setting up a bank account, and here we are talking about initiatives that will help Fiji attract larger players – so clearly, we need to understand how the Government can continue to help,” Mr Kamikamica said.
“The outsourcing industry hits all the right spots in terms of diversifying the economy; growing opportunities for the youth population, especially with the great literacy rates; we speak great English as well.
“We do have all the right ingredients to be the formidable player in terms of the outsourcing sector,” he said.
Ms Janif added that the industry body is grateful to see the Government’s
support towards the industry as it is still in its infant stages and has the ability to become one of the leading sectors in Fiji’s economy.
“I wish to acknowledge the former Government, as well as the incoming Government for putting Fiji’s Outsourcing industry in its priority list,”Ms Janif said.
“We have the seen the industry grow at a rapid pace over the past two-three years and with the support from the Fiji Government and our stakeholders, we can put forward so much for international businesses as well as for the people of Fiji.
“It is a win-win situation.”
