She said the fire started soon after a visitor left their home on Thursday.

She also admitted that they had lit a mosquito coil and left it under a couch, which she believes may have started fire.

“Our visitor was inside the house and mosquitoes started to bite him, so we had to light a mosquito coil,” she said.

“My son was inside as well, and I saw the fire start at the very same place where the mosquito coil was lit.

“So, I immediately screamed out to my son to run out of the house.”

Cost of damage is estimated at $100,000.

The National Fire Authority’s (NFA) chief executive officer, Puamau Sowane, said there were no casualties following the incident.

An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause.
