A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, THE INTERIOR AND WESTERN PARTS OF VITI LEVU [GREATER KOROLEVU-SIGATOKA-NADILAUTOKA-BA-TAVUA-RAKIRAKI AREA], VATULELE, KADAVU AND SOUTHERN LAU GROUP.
A FLASH FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE
LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS IN THE INTERIOR AND WESTERN PARTS OF VITI LEVU FROM SIGATOKA TO RAKIRAKI [GREATER KOROLEVU-SIGATOKA-NADI-LAUTOKABA-TAVUA-RAKIRAKI AREA], VATULELE AND KADAVU.
Situation: An active convergence zone lies slow moving just to the west of Viti Levu. The associated rain continues to affect parts of the country. Meanwhile, a moist northwesterly wind flow continues to persist over the group.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: Periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca group, the interior and western parts of Viti Levu [greater Korolevu-Sigatoka-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-TavuaRakiraki area], Vatulele, Kadavu and Southern Lau group. Rain easing from tomorrow. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Elsewhere, cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds. Gusty winds expected during heavy falls. Moderate to rough seas.
Outlook for SUNDAY:
Some showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca group, the interior and western parts of Viti Levu [greater Korolevu-Sigatoka-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba Tavua-Rakiraki area], Vatulele, Kadavu and Southern Lau group,Northern Bua and Macuata Provinces. Elsewhere, cloudy periods with afternoon showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls.
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms.
OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY: Cloudy periods with afternoon showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls.
For Sigatoka / Coral Coast: Periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Rain easing from tomorrow.
