The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviatio­n, Lynda Tabuya visited the Department of Women and Department of Social Welfare Office in Nausori and Nasinu.

Ms Tabuya was accompanie­d by the Director Women, Director Social Welfare and the Executive Support Unit Official. The minister met with the

staff and held discussion­s on the way forward in improving services delivery and the new government policies and initiative­s.

While speaking to the Ministry officials, Ms Tabuya conveyed the Prime Minister’s best wishes to the staff of the Ministry.

“We are very excited to be here today and also be part of this amazing

ministry. I am new to the ministry, but I’m not new to the work that you do. It’s something that I’ve been doing on the past years, being part of the social work in my community,” she said. “I as your Minister and my Assistant Minister, Honourable Sashi Kiran will be supporting the work you have been doing. We have an open door policy. You can come and meet us. You have been serving more than seventy percent of the population of this country and I thank you for your hard work and commitment.

She acknowledg­ed the tremendous work carried out by her staff at the district level and stressed the need for efficienci­es and compassion when dealing with clients.
