Bula Baby Boys Raring to Take on Samoa

Team bonding and game management are key elements for the Digicel Bula Baby Boys Under-17 as they psyche up for their opening Oceania Football U17 World Cup qualifiers against Samoa tonight at the HFC Bank stadium in Suva.

Head coach Sunil Kumar made the revelation at the Fiji FA National Football Academy yesterday.

The Aaron Naicker as captain knows the importance of the task he and his team have at hand. Speaking to Sunsports Kumar said they will have to play smart football if they were to qualify for the World Cup.

“This is what we have been waiting and preparing well for and the moment has arrived,” he said.

“There were a lot of challenges along the way but they stood the test and came out on top to be selected in the national squad.

“These boys have really bonded well during their camp and are ready for the battle in front of them this few weeks.

“Our team work and bonding will carry our hopes in the tournament because the boys will play for each other.

“The other point is that we have to play smart and fast football to counter our opposition on the day.

“We know that any team playing

in this competitio­n will be tough so it is not easy to play; we respect all of them and we know that everyone is bringing in their best.

“I can assure the football fans and families of these young footballer­s that we are ready for the mission.

“Our goal is to reach the final and achieving that, we will qualify for the World Cup in Peru, it’s simple we perform we win.

Fiji is one of the ten teams taking part in this Oceania qualifier round for the U17.

The other nations are defending champions New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Vanuatu, Samoa, Cook Islands and American Samoa.

The match starts at 7pm.
