Fiji Pro Invitational 2023 events director and Fiji Surf Co managing director Ian Muller has confirmed that the event will be held in Fiji on June 1-11.

This followed the extensive groundwork done in August 20-30, last year, at the legendary Cloudbreak reef.

“A list of the who’s who in the riders’ world will be here to compete,” Muller said.

“We thank Tourism Fiji and the government for supporting the event along with a host of local businesses.

He added riding Cloudbreak at 8 to 10 feet is special and that’s the goal: Big waves and perfect Tradewinds. “It’s one of the most amazing experiences out there for the hard core riders and fans around the world,” he said.

“As the bombs are coming through, and the blue hues of the Pacific envelope you. This is the Invitational.” He added they have started working on the list of riders and duration of the competition across the 10 day event window.

The Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) and International Windsurfing Tour (IWT) combined yesterday in a groundbreaking move that will create the greatest wave sailing tour in the 50-year history of the sport.

“This is good news as the unified tour,” he said.

“Fiji’s Cloudbreak hosted last year’s event which was the catalyst to unite the two tours below IWT that came to Fiji and PWA. It is a big news and Fiji has made it happen.”

42-times Windsurf World Champion Bjørn Dunkerbeck, one of the most successful athletes in the world said, “Great team effort, I really hope this will help our sport! And let windsurfing get the attention it deserves in the world of sports!”
