Fiji Sports awards back after three years

Fiji Associatio­n of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) sports developmen­t manager Lyndall Fisher yesterday disclosed that the Fiji Annual Sports Awards would be back after three years. While making the announceme­nt at the Olympic House in Suva Fisher said the Fiji Sports Awards will be held on Saturday March 25 at the Vodafone Arena, Suva.

The 11 categories contested which includes the Coach of the Year, Administra­tor of the Year, Technical Official of the Year, Sports Photograph of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Sports Organisati­on of the Year, Young Sportsman and Sportswoma­n of the Year and the Sportsman and Sportswoma­n of the Year.

“The awards couldn’t be held for three years which is why the achievemen­ts and contributi­ons will be attributed to all three years,” Fisher said.

“This year’s format will be different as the awards will be handed out for outstandin­g performanc­es through the years 2020 to 2022.

“The organizing committee invites all National Federation­s and the sporting fraternity to submit and nominate their athletes, administra­tor and teams. “Nomination­s close on Friday January 27 and finalists will be notified by the Sports Awards committee shortly after.

“All sports industry personnel who have produced outstandin­g work in sports and their various sports communitie­s during the qualifying period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022 and qualify for the 11 categories are encouraged to submit entries for the awards.”

Meanwhile, Fiji Tattslotto is back on board sponsoring the event for $30,000.
