Every Little Thing in Life Matters: Gitali Ram
Everything in life is beautiful with its unique colours, size and shapes but not everyone sees it. This is a sentiment raised by Gitali Ram, a Year 13 student alumni of Xavier College in Ba.
Gitali was born and raised in the soccer crazy town of Ba before moving with her family to Nadi. The 18-year-old lass, is the eldest of two siblings and wishes to further her studies in Bio Informatics Engineering. She took part in the Miss Teen India Fiji pageant hosted last November and was crowned the first runner up. Gitali has now been invited to participate on her second international pageant Face Of Beauty international world final 2023 this March in the Philippines. She will be the first Fijian contestant who will be taking part in teen division during this pageant.
Journey
Gitali said her life journey as a teenager had been a smooth sail till the day she was certain to step of the ordinary, something that wasn’t common in an Indian household. “Raised up in an Indian household, pageants, modeling and being photographed were not normally entertained,” she said. “Making the first step is always hard but I am grateful to have a parents who are supportive of me in everything that I do.”
“She has always been that biggest influence in my life, despite issues and struggles I face,” Gitali said.
Participation
Gitali said the pageant name spoke for itself Face of Beauty, and this platform not only gives her an opportunity to talk about issues but also an opportunity for her to tell the world about Fiji.
“I want to be that young teenager who defies all odds that society has for us, I want to break free, I want to break that cultural barrier and stereotypes.”
Gitali said despite our different origins we were one and this was something that made us different.
Pageant
The Face of Beauty International was created in 2012 and the pageant aims to develop young female leaders from around the world with the goal to empower contestants to find beauty.
The pageant allows young women to gain greater confidence in themselves through sharing their knowledge, experience, and developed skills with many young women who struggle to find their beauty and potential. Gitali said every little thing in life matters, the good and the challenges you face builds you and mold you of who you are.
