Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort undergoes multi-million facelift
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort on the Coral Coast is undergoing a multi-million dollar facelift.
General manager Darren Shaw confirmed yesterday that the project started in October and should be completed by 2023.
“It is obviously our first renovation for a number of years and exciting times ahead for our resort,”Mr Shaw said.
He added that this will include a number of areas like the lobby area, and all-day diner.
“We have started to embark on a 253 room’s renovation and we are in the first stage of our renovation. This is a serious, proper and comprehensive renovation.
As Fiji has managed to come back strongly, and is so exciting for us going forward and to give our guest’s the value for their money.
“We need to make sure that the product that we offer is also at a five star level, at an international standard.
“We are very fortunate that our owners are very supportive of this,” he said.
Mr Shaw said he was not in a position to put a dollar value to the project as works are in progress.
“That will cover like most of the resort and as you know, we haven’t had a renovation here for a number of years. So this will certainly make a big difference. It is indeed in the millions (of dollars).”
Green seal certification
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resorts is the first property in the South Pacific to achieve the Green Seal Bronze certification through their dedicated Outrigger hosts.
Mr Shaw saidthat certification is the resort’s first step towards their long term commitment to reducing carbon footprint.
Green Seal’s hotel and lodging certification provides properties an achievable path toward sustainable operations, and educates and motivates hosts to protect natural resources such as energy, water, gas, all while continuing to provide high quality service, convenience and comfort to guests.
Tourism Fiji commendation
Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill said Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort was an incredible example of excellence and dedication with their recent wins for outstanding customer service and hospitality at the HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence.
“I’m so proud to see how far we’ve come since reopening just over a year ago and looking forward to where we continue pushing the boundaries of our industry with ongoing innovation and improvement, and to deliver uniquely Fijian experiences and hospitality to everyone who visits our paradise,” Mr Hill said.
He s was really excited to see last year’s trend of global recognition of Fiji as a must see destination continue with Fiji’s recent mention in CNN’s “Where to travel in 2023: The best destinations to visit”.
“I’m confident this recognition is a sign of huge things to come in 2023,” he said.
