She studied acting in Australia and decided to return to Fiji and has started a business, ‘Street Smart’ with her partner, Isikeli Savu.

Their business focuses on video content and they also allow other businesses to advertise on their platform.

Her video with candidate 480 Sitiveni Rabuka has been trending. It was also a way to fast-track their need to advertise their business. “We had a TikTok with Mr Rabuka and that has really propelled us and fast-tracked our need to advertise the business,” she said.

“Now we have a lot of clients approaching us. We are happy to see that the business is trusting local content creators to advertise their businesses.”

The 31-year-old acknowledged the resort and the resort operation manager, Ana Masere, for taking the initiative to recognise Fiji’s digital content creators.

“I feel so honoured to firstly be part of Fiji’s first TikTok Awards that recognised local content creators, and secondly for winning the Influencer of the Year and Woman of the Year awards,” she said.

“It feels great to know that there are businesses that recognised the potential of TikTok and social media. Social media is the future. It is the future for businesses and for advertising.

“People have a lot to say about TikTokers, but TikTok is not just an entertainment platform, it is also very educational and provides people and especially SME’s with an added advantage of showcasing themselves on a more raw and relatable platform.”

Al- Hamd Smart Living general manager Anilesh Kumar, who officiated at the event, said the unique talents that every individual had been a gift from God.

“Digital is Fiji’s future,” he said. The company sponsored the event with $1000 prize money for making their best video of their products. Ms Masere said she would be conducting the TikTok award every year.

“I am thankful for the resort for believing in me to spearhead this event.”
