Baby Bula Boys Wary of Tonga
The Digicel Baby Bula Boys are calling for fans and families’ support when they take on Tonga in its second Group A fixture of the Oceania Football Confederation Under-17 championship at 7pm tonight at the HFC Bank Stadium.
The Fijian pack had thrashed Samoa, 3-0, in their first game last Wednesday at the same venue.
The Digicel Baby Bula Boys head coach Sunil Kumar says they are taking each match at a time.
“Everything is going quite well,” Kumar told Fiji FA Media.
“We had a few injuries after the first game.
“We have seen Tonga play against Samoa, they look like a physical side; at times they look dangerous when they counter attack.
“I would say Tonga will come out firing because the quarterfinal spot is at stake, we expect them to be strong.”
Tonga had thrashed Samoa 6-0. “We are taking one game at a time. This match is important to us. We want to go into the quarterfinal with a good result, so we will take this game quite seriously,” he said.
“We want to play quick football, move the ball around quickly. “Please come out and support the Baby Bula Boys as they need everyone’s support. It will mean a lot to them.
Goal scorers against Samoa; William Khan, Prashant Kumar and Vinayak Rao hope that fans will turn up tonight to support the team. Defending champions New Zealand look comfortable after their two games at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Ba.
They beat New Caledonia 3-2 and Thrashed American Samoa 11-0 in Pool B while in Pool C Tahiti is drew 2-all with Vanuatu and walloped Cook Islands 6-0.
The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Under-17 championship is a qualifier for the FIFA U17 World Cup later this year in Peru.
