Zonah See Market Potential for Local Products
Entrepreneur Naheeda Maqbool believes that Fijian grown products are premium and have the potential to be shelved at every international supermarket.
Her business ZONAH UNITED is a living testament of this as one of Fiji’s leading producers, processor & manufacturer of spices and value-added spice products in Fiji. Established in 2018, ZONAH UNITED’s vision was to see rural women have a better livlihood and consistent income to support their family.
“I saw the potential in agriculture and identified opportunites to help them by creating create employment opportunities,” said director Ms Maqbool. “This also helped develop the agriculture sector that would help alleviate poverty in our rural areas, reduce crime, empower marganlised women and help contribute towards the objectivity of our economy. “I used my education and knoweldge to put all my plans into action and today I am proud to say we support 50 marganlised rural women with employment.” Despite having little knowledge of running a business, her persistence to empower rural women through agriculture.
“I had a mission and worked hard to make it a reality but having preserverance, intregerty and a humble beggining made it all happen.”
Zonah United’s establishment is a state-of-the-art processing facility located in Suva where it develops and use the latest technology to provide both traditional and value-added spice products.
Its farmlands are situated in Western, Northern & Eastern regions of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu which are Navua, Rakiraki, Labasa & Sigatoka. This is where Zonah Unites manages our farmland for harvesting of wild Turmeric which are naturally grown.
