A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, WESTERN AND NORTHERN VITI LEVU [LOMAWAI, NADI, LAUTOKA, BA, TAVUA,
RAKIRAKI, INTERIOR BA AND INTERIOR RA]
A COASTAL INUNDATION ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR COASTAL AREAS OF YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, WESTERN VITI LEVU TO CORAL COAST[ FROM TEIDAMU THROUGH LAUWAKI, MOMI TO CORAL COAST], VATULELE, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, MOALA GROUP, CENTRAL LAU AND SOUTHERN LAU GROUP.
Situation: An active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain lies over the country and it expected to affect the group till tomorrow. Another trough of low pressure lies to the northeast of Fiji and is expected to move west towards the group and affect the northern and eastern parts of the country from later tomorrow. Meanwhile, a fresh to strong northwesterly wind flow prevail over the whole of the group.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: For Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vatulele, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, western and northern Viti Levu: Occasional rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms. Rain easing to showers later by tomorrow. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Rough seas, becoming moderate to rough tonight.
For the rest of Viti Levu: Occasional rain and few thunderstorms. Rain easing to showers tomorrow. Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.
Outlook for Sunday Occasional showers over the eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Lau and Lomaiviti group, greater Suva/ Nausori-Tailevu area, Naitasiri and Ra. Elsewhere, afternoon and evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls expected.
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Occasional rain and few thunderstorms.
