Nadi farmer, Kini Boko breathed a sigh of relief after receiving the $200 back to school initiative by Government.

He was one of the many parents around the country who received this assistance.

Mr Boka had received $600 for his three children. The eldest son, Samisoni Driu will be attending Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) as a Year Three student while two young ones, Liko Driu and Jope Driu attend Nadi Sangam Primary.

As a sole bread winner for his family, the father of three children was worried about ways to meet his children’s school stationery needs. Receiving the government assistance yesterday was like a huge

burden off his shoulder.

“I thank God for this provision. I was thinking about how I will satisfy all my children’s needs but the assistance made by the Government has given me a big relief,” he said.

In another case, a mother of three children, Vanita Devi said the government assistance was a great help to her in preparing her children go back to school.

“It was not easy for us after our house was burnt down last year. It was a struggle to build up after all that we have lost in that fire,” she said. “After the announcement made by the Government, I couldn’t wait to apply for the assistance.

“Today after I received the government assistance I took all my three children to Meenoos to buy their uniforms and the rest for their school stationery,”

“I thank government for supporting our children’s education,” Ms Devi added.

Parents and their children flocked to Meenoos Store in Nadi Town yesterday in preparation for the 2023 school year.
