“It may not be a core tax operational area, but it is still a very critical enabler in revenue administrations, and it surely helps organizations to achieve its goals. More importantly, it helps organizations develop its people – our organizations most valuable resource.,” Head of PITAA Secretariat, George Mow said.
Mr Mow said there were several benefits which stem from a strong, functioning performance management system and these included improved tax compliance, strong business performance as well as engaged motivated and high performing staff.
Director of PFTAC, Samir Jahjah emphasized the importance of Performance Management for revenue administrations.
“Many administrations have been helping their governments with COVID support measures. In the process, filing performance may have deteriorated, and compliance or enforcement efforts undermined. A complicating factor in the region is the brain drain of staff,” he said.
“This means that revenue administrations need to be as productive as possible to collect the most revenue possible and effectively managing people and performance are critical, therefore this is the focus of this workshop.”
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to understand the importance of a performance management system and the part that staff and managers in a revenue administration play. Managers, team leaders and employees will be trained to participate in a feedback meeting which is another component of this workshop.
