Nadi trio triumph

The Bobby Prasad skippered Team Nadi team took out the Grid Security sponsored Fiji National Bowls Open Trips 2023 at the Suva Bowling Club.

The side made up of Munesh Kumar and Dan Vinod defeated the father and son combinatio­n of Ben, Jovesa and John O’Connor with a 17-9 victory in the final.

Prasad said the win has set the pace for them this year.

“It was a grand competitio­n and we managed to bring the Cup down to Nadi,” said Prasad.

“It is our aim to have all the silverware in Nadi; developmen­t and aura has been going well for us at Nadi Sports Club.”

Future target

Prasad said their aim was to repeat victory in the 2023 Hudson Cup which will be held in Nadi.

“That is our aim again to wrestle this silverware,” he said.

In the semi-final, Prasad’s team defeated Waisea Turaga/Amit Prasad/

Jope Ravula side 24-20 while Ben O’Connor’s side defeated Semesa Naseruvati, Olaf Allen Snr and Rick Eyre in a close encounter 15-13 in the second semi-final.

Start of national events

Coordinato­r and Suva Bowls vice president Ramesh Chand said, this was the beginning of the national events.

“There were 13 teams competing in the event and we did not have any women’s team since they were not able to make the numbers,” he said. He thanked the team from the west for making the competitio­n lively and sponsors for coming on board.

Chand added that the club competitio­n has been underway since last week.

Complete Insurance and Services PTE Limited sponsored the 2023 Suva Business-house competitio­n which began on Thursday.

About 24 teams registered in the competitio­n; SBC aims to host four business-house comeptitio­ns this year.”
